ethan is so shy. if he knows you pretty well, he's not so shy. buy in a room of strangers and people he doesn't know well, he is a different boy. i brought the three younger boys to acs last month so they could meet xavier. ethan clung to my leg and buried his face in my jacket the entire hour that i was there. we ask him who he plays with at school and he just shrugs his shoulders and says, "i don't remember." he'll say things like, "i wanted to cry at school because i wanted you. but only a little bit. but i didn't cry." or when we ask him if he wants to play soccer with the other kids: "um, maybe when i'm bigger i won't be afraid."

i think he's so used to having his brothers around and relies so much on that that he doesn't even feel the need to make friends at school. i hope that his shyness doesn't keep him from having all of those good experiences in school...he is such a fun and sweet and silly boy. it would be a shame for others to miss out on that as well.
